Net Zero Commitment Statement

We, Skyrocket Phytopharma, acknowledge the NHS’s commitment to achieving Net Zero direct carbon emissions by 2040 and Net Zero indirect emissions by 2045. We affirm our support for this goal.

As a small enterprise with an annual turnover below £5 million, we are not required to submit a full Carbon Reduction Plan. However, we are committed to taking meaningful steps to reduce our environmental impact and align with NHS sustainability objectives.

Our commitments include:

  • Reducing energy consumption across our operations through efficiency measures.
  • Minimising waste and promoting recycling in our packaging and logistics.
  • Engaging suppliers to encourage sustainable practices throughout our supply chain.
  • Monitoring and reporting our environmental performance annually.
  • Exploring low-carbon alternatives in product design and distribution.

We will continue to review and improve our sustainability practices in line with NHS guidance and broader UK Net Zero targets.

Practical actions we are taking

Although our operations are small in scale, we have adopted a series of proportionate but meaningful actions to reduce our environmental impact:

  • Remote-first working model – reducing commuting emissions and office energy consumption.
  • Paperless operations – using digital systems for communications, billing, and record-keeping.
  • Sustainable procurement – prioritising suppliers with demonstrable environmental policies and low-carbon delivery options.
  • Energy efficiency – using energy-efficient equipment and ensuring devices are powered down when not in use.
  • Waste reduction – minimising waste generation and recycling wherever possible.
  • Travel reduction – avoiding unnecessary business travel and favouring public transport or virtual meetings.
  • Continuous improvement – reviewing our environmental practices annually and identifying new opportunities to reduce our footprint further.

Future plans

As we grow, we will:

  • Encourage sustainability awareness among our team and partners.
  • Develop a more detailed carbon reduction plan consistent with NHS requirements.
  • Set measurable annual targets for emissions reduction.
  • Explore opportunities to offset any unavoidable emissions through verified carbon offset schemes.
